Boost for Kenya tea exporters as Tanzania lifts imports ban

Tanzania has reversed its decision to suspend tea imports, opening a window for Kenyan traders to resume exports to the neighboring country. Kenya has praised Tanzania’s move to resume issuing tea importation permits after lobbying for the reversal of the suspension.
As part of efforts to boost tea exports, the Kenyan government also plans to lower the minimum price to $2.43 per kilogram of tea sold at the Mombasa auction.
