Driving Kenya’s Cashew Export Ambitions: KEPROBA CEO Engages Stakeholders at National Cashew Conference 2026

Kenya’s journey toward strengthening its agricultural exports received a significant boost as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA), Ms. Floice Mukabana, engaged industry players at the ongoing National Cashew Conference 2026 in Kwale County. Her presence and participation underscored the government’s renewed commitment to revitalizing and expanding the country’s cashew value chain.

The conference has convened a diverse mix of stakeholders, farmers, processors, exporters, and policymakers creating a dynamic platform for dialogue on the future of Kenya’s cashew industry. At the heart of the discussions is a shared ambition: unlocking global market opportunities and positioning Kenyan cashew products as competitive players on the international stage.

In her engagement, Ms. Mukabana highlighted KEPROBA’s strategic priorities, emphasizing the critical role of market access, value addition, and branding in transforming the sector. She noted that while Kenya has long held potential in cashew production, the real opportunity lies in moving beyond raw exports toward processed, high-value products that can command premium prices globally.

“Kenyan cashews have a unique quality that, when properly processed and branded, can stand out in international markets,” she remarked, pointing to the growing global demand for sustainably sourced and high-quality nuts. By strengthening linkages between producers and global buyers, KEPROBA continues to play a pivotal role in bridging local capacity with international demand.

The Agency’s efforts are also anchored in enhancing competitiveness and sustainability across the value chain. This includes supporting farmers with market intelligence, facilitating access to export markets, and encouraging investment in modern processing technologies. Such interventions are designed not only to increase export volumes but also to ensure that more value is retained within the country, ultimately benefiting local communities.

The engagement in Kwale County reflects a broader national strategy to elevate agriculture as a key driver of export-led growth. With cashew farming predominantly practiced in Kenya’s coastal regions, the sector holds immense potential for economic empowerment, job creation, and regional development.

As conversations at the conference continue, one message remains clear: coordinated efforts among stakeholders will be essential in unlocking the full potential of Kenya’s cashew industry. Through sustained collaboration, strategic investment, and a focus on quality and branding, Kenya is steadily positioning itself as an emerging force in the global cashew market.

This momentum signals not just growth for a single crop, but a broader shift toward a more diversified, resilient, and export-oriented agricultural economy.
