
The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency is coordinating Kenya’s participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The theme of the Expo is Designing Future Society for Our Lives aimed at making individuals reflect on how they want to live and how they can maximize their potential. The Expo started on 13th April 2025 and will be running for a period of six months up to 13th October 2025.
Kenya’s participation in the Expo is conceptualized on the theme, “Kenya Rising from the bottom-up” tied to the “Empowering Lives” sub-theme of the Expo, to highlight Kenya's rich cultural heritage, its history of innovation and progress, and its potential for continued growth and development in creating a brighter future for Kenya and its people in line with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Kenya will leverage on the platform created by the Expo to position itself as a preferred trade partner and destination for investment and tourism.
At the Expo, Kenya has organized the Kenya Week Celebrations that forms the climax of Kenya’s participation in the Expo, which will be held from 21st to 24th June 2025. During this week, the following events will be held:
- Diaspora Networking Dinner - 21st June 2025: The event aims at honoring the Kenyans in Japan and the Far East for their contributions to national development and promoting Kenya internationally.
- Kenya run at the Expo (Run with the champions) – 22nd June 2025: through this event, Kenya will create visibility as an undisputed champion in marathon to attract sport tourism, investments in sporting projects and trade in sporting equipment.
- Kenya-Japan High level Business Forum (HLBF) – 23rd June 2025: During this event, Kenyans will engage with their Japanese counterparts through presentations, panel discussions and business to business (B2B) engagements where they will be able to showcase the existing opportunities in trade, investment and tourism that could influence buying from Kenya, investing in Kenya, thus positioning Kenya as a Country of choice for trade and investment. During this event, exhibition space will be availed to allow the Kenyan exporters to showcase their products and engage the delegates further.
- The Kenya National Day of Honour – 24th June 2025: under the leadership of the head of Kenya delegation, Kenya will hold the event at the Expo to create visibility for the Country and position Kenya as a preferred trade partner and destination of choice for investments and tourism.
- Cultural Performance – 24th June 2025: Kenya seeks to use this event to promote the national culture besides providing entertainment to the guests attending the expo.
The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency, in liaison with the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and the Japanese Embassy in Kenya will support the participants to acquire visa for travelling to Japan and the Expo accreditation passes. Additionally, the Agency will hire the venue for the Kenya-Japan High level Business forum at the Osaka International Convention Center (OICC) and mobilize delegates from Japan and other countries participating in the Expo for matchmaking with their Kenyan counterparts.
Participants to the Kenya Week Celebrations will be required to cater for their travel costs, accommodation and any other costs related to their travel and stay in Japan, including transportation of their exhibits to and from Japan.
Participants to the Kenya Week Celebrations will have an opportunity to network with buyers, investors and policy makers in Japan for business engagements and creation of good environment for business and investment respectively.
