
The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency in collaboration with Kenya Tea Development Agency and Kiru Tea Factory participated in a tree planting exercise in Murang’a County where 700 tree seedlings were planted along Mathioya river line and a further 300 avocado tree seedlings donated to tea farmers in the area.
The activity which took place on 28th April 2023 is in support of the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign to increase Kenya’s forest cover to 30% by 2032 as well as create sustainable agriculture, especially in the tea sector that significantly contributes to Kenya’s GDP.
The KEPROBA-sponsored tree planting exercise is a vital initiative that is in line with the National Tree Growing Restoration campaign that was launched by His Excellency President William Ruto. The goal of the initiative is to plant over 15 billion trees in Kenya by 2032 with the objectives of mitigating climate change, increasing forest cover and fostering sustainable development.
