The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) has partnered with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to host a roadshow on the upcoming Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2023) at the Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
IATF 2023 event is scheduled to take place from November 9-15, 2023, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in Cairo, Egypt. The trade fair is expected to attract over 10,000 exhibitors from different value chains across Africa.
The IATF 2023 roadshow in Kenya will provide stakeholders with information about the IATF 2023 trade fair and the opportunities it presents for Kenyan businesses, investors, youth and women besides giving a clear explanation on the role of Afreximbank in promoting intra-African trade and investment through the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Nairobi roadshow will feature a panel discussion on the topic of “Seizing the AfCFTA Advantage: Empowering Manufacturers, Exporters, Investors.” The panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and how Kenyan investors, exporters and producers can take advantage of it.
Kenya is one of the countries selected for the pilot phase of the African Continental Free Trade Area and has so far exported value added tea and batteries to Ghana. The AfCFTA agreement is poised to become the world’s largest free trade area connecting over 1.3 billion people across the 55 African states with a combined GDP of US $3.4 trillion.
The agreement has the potential to lift over 30 million people out of poverty in Africa by enhancing free trade, movement of goods and services, increased employment opportunities and empowerment of youth and women to uplift their economic potential.
