Verification Of Compliance Visit On Kenya’s Avocado Production And Certification System By The Quarantine Service Of Malaysia

A delegation from Malaysia’s Department of Agriculture is currently conducting a verification of compliance visit as part of finalization of the Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) on avocados from Kenya.

The exercise is being undertaken by the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) in collaboration with Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA).

The Malaysian team is inspecting Kenyan avocado orchards and processing facilities across the counties of Murang’a, Embu and Trans Nzoia to ascertain the export quality management systems and interventions in place.

Kenya anticipates to access the Malaysian market in the near future, serving as a first step to grow its market share in the Asia Pacific region. The efforts will help the country to cement its position as one of the world’s leading exporters of avocados.
