Kenya is the leading exporter of black CTC teas in the world accounting for about 22% of global exports. Kenya exports tea to the entire world major markets being the European Union, United State of America, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Tea is grown on the Kenyan highlands (1500m-2700m), with alluvial soils, giving it a unique quality and taste. Over 90% of Kenya’s tea is manufactured using Cut, Tear and Curl (CTC) method to ensure maximum cuppage per unit weight. Other high value teas available are from the Specialty tea sector and include orthodox (leaf) purple, white, yellow, green and red teas.
