
The Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency attended the launch of a new BURN Manufacturer’s factory at Ruiru Business Park in Ruiru, Kiambu County on Wednesday 26th January 2022 in a move that seeks to increase production.
BURN launched its first and only one of a kind manufacturing facility in Kenya in 2014 and has since become the only vertically integrated modern cookstove company in Sub-Saharan Africa. The solar powered manufacturer has a production capacity of 250, 000 units per month and creates employment for over 1000 people, 50% of whom are women from different parts of Kenya.
With the opening of a new factory in Ruiru, BURN will double its workforce to 2000 of whom 50% will be women. BURN’s success in Kenya is a great indicator that Kenya is a ripe environment for investment and that the private sector is a critical partner when it comes to Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency’s goals of encouraging business growth, supporting local SMEs, facilitating trade advisory and product development.
BURN’s cookstoves are efficient, transformative and environmentally friendly hence impacting hundreds of women across Africa. By launching a new factory, BURN aims a increasing its production capacity in Kenya from 250,000 units per Month to 1 million Units. The company aims at expanding its operations in Uganda, Tanzania, DRC, Zambia, Ghana and Nigeria.
